The Winkhaus 'ArmorShield' High Security Cylinder Guard is designed as an upgrade product for euro profile lock cylinders when fitted to multi-point door locks. Housed within the fabric of the door, the 'ArmorShield' device shrouds the cylinder to protect it from attack by crowbars, mole grips and screw drivers etc. The guard is 2 Star rated to TS 007 and can be used with any 1 Star rated cylinder to provide full 3 Star security when using unrated furniture. Discreetly concealed beneath the handle backplate, the guard is suitable for use with the vast majority of our multi-point compatible handle sets to provide finish and design continuity between internal and external doors. This cylinder guard has been included as part of a complete door set successfully tested to PAS 24 and is an approved Secured by Design product.
For optimum security the external cylinder side should measures no more than 45mm to the outside face (measured from the centre line).
Important: Handle backplates must have a minimum measurement of 45mm from the cylinder keyway centre to the centre of the bottom fixing position to allow fixing bolts to pass under the cylinder guard - please refer to the technical drawings.
Keep joinery tolerances to a minimum when fitting to ensure handle backplates are able to fully cover the door cut-out. Backplates should have a minimum width of 26mm.
When fitting handle backplates that are flat on the underside, the cylinder guard must not project from the door face. Therefore, the minimum door thickness under these circumstances is 54mm with locks fitted centrally. Thinner doors can be accommodated by fitting handle backplates with a void space on the underside.
