This high quality British made Mortice Nightlatch (slam lock) can be fitted as an alternative to more common surface mounted "Yale" type locks on main entrance doors. The sprung latchbolt is withdrawn externally by key using a Single Euro Profile lock cylinder barrel and internally by a separate thumbturn knob. The latchbolt may be held back in the withdrawn position via the snib in the faceplate to prevent accidental lockout. Suitable for use with electric strike plates on communal entrance doors and can be fitted to fire rated timber door sets in accordance with current regulations
Thumbturns should be of a type incoporating an 8mm square spindle or a relevant spindle conversion sleeve. Use with turn operated cylinders is NOT recommended.
For high security applications a suitable deadlock should also be fitted.
Detailed advice on the selection of mortice locks and latches can be found in our [Mortice Locks & Latches Specification Guide].
For best results and long life, this lock should be lubricated with a light machine oil at least once a year.
