Hook & Band Strap Hinges are a traditional method of hanging heavier ledged and braced doors. This CRANKED pattern cast malleable iron version is suitable for doors up to 30" (760mm) wide and is a popular choice for narrower entrance doors and gates. Forming part of our "Black Ironmongery" collection this authentic hook & band hinge is manufactured in Britain by Kirkpatrick Ltd using time honoured techniques that have remained unchanged since the mid 1800s and should not be confused with the poor quality imported copies from other suppliers.
Finished in hard wearing Antique Black Iron, this Hook & Band Hinge is suitable for internal and external applications.

This 'CRANKED' pattern Hook & Band hinge is designed for applications where the door face is flush with the frame. As a rule of thumb, light to medium weight doors (soft wood, pine) will require hinges approx one third to half the door width. For heavier doors (eg solid oak) select a hinge one half to two thirds the door width. For doors over 84" (2100mm) high we recommend a third hinge fitted centrally.
To keep these hinges in optimum working condition we recommend a once yearly application of light machine oil (3 in 1) to the hinge knuckles. Check hinges occassionaly for dirt and grease and wipe clean with an oil impregnated cloth.
These hinges are a non stock product and will normally need to ordered in from the manufacturer. You should therefore allow approximately 7 - 10 working days for despatch.
